Do the math before anyone quotes you. Five tools, no email walls, results as you type.
What could solar save on your bills?
Three questions you can answer from your kitchen table. Results update as you type. No email required.
Optional: swaps the provincial planning average for PVGIS satellite irradiance at your exact location. Open science data from the European Commission, free, no account, and your coordinates are never stored.
Estimates only, and deliberately conservative. Provincial rate and production figures are planning averages, not your utility's tariff, and the readiness score is a readout of payback economics, not a site assessment. Every home needs an on-site evaluation before anyone can quote real numbers.
What should a system cost?
The trade prices in dollars per watt. This shows the planning range for your system size, so the first quote you see is never the first number you know.
Not sure what size you need? Run the Savings tab first; it sizes a system from your bill.
Planning benchmarks, not quotes. Roof complexity, panel choice, an electrical panel upgrade and access all move the price; compare quotes in dollars per watt. The hardware and install split is a planning average, and battery figures are planning ranges: batteries buy backup, not payback.
Cash, loan or lease?
The same system, financed three ways, compared on total 25-year cost. The monthly payment a salesperson leads with is never the whole story.
Planning math on planning averages, and lease terms vary wildly, including who keeps the system at the end. This is not financial advice; it is the arithmetic to bring to whoever gives you financial advice. With a lease you typically do not own the system.
Size a farm system from your power spend.
Larger arrays price lower per watt, so farm math has its own tiers. Enter what the operation spends and see the planning picture. The farm solar guide covers the why.
Planning figures on flagged provincial averages, before incentives and before tax treatment, and farm rates vary more than residential ones. Ground mounts assume near-ideal tilt, and area factors are planning rules of thumb: about 100 sq ft per kW on a roof, 150 on the ground. An on-site evaluation and your actual bills produce the real numbers.
What could Alberta's Solar Club add?
Alberta retailers let solar homes take a premium rate for summer exports, then switch back for winter. Enter the advertised club rate and see what the switch could earn on top of regular savings.
Rough planning estimate. Club rates change, enrollment rules apply, and while enrolled your summer imports are also billed at the higher rate, which trims the benefit. Timing the winter switch matters. Read the Solar Club explainer before switching anything.
Every tool on this page runs on flagged planning averages, kept deliberately conservative, and none of it needs your email address. Real numbers come from an on-site evaluation.
